Fancy(-ish) Haul: MAC and Ulta

Sorry for the late post today; it's been a busy week (and a hectic day!), but I wanted to get this post up before the weekend.

The other day, Mommy Jim and I headed to MAC and Ulta to stock up on some beauty essentials.

At Ulta, we bought a salon-sized bottle of Paul Mitchell’s Awapuhi Shampoo and a standard-size bottle of The Detangler.  Both products are historical favorites in our house; though we may stray and use other shampoo-conditioner combinations, we always make our way back to this combo.  As a brand Paul Mitchell is great: high quality products that are never tested on animals and still manage to come in at a reasonable price-point.  You can’t beat ‘em.

At MAC Mommy Jim picked up a Studio Fix powder foundation (NW30) to use as a high coverage setting powder and base alternative to her tried and true BareMinerals matte.  Sometimes a girl just needs  change.

For myself, I purchased an eyeshadow in Brun (satin finish) to fill in my brows.  Brun, as you can see, is a very dark, slightly ashy brown; the tone suits my dark hair and brow tone perfectly.

I also purchased Peaches, an orangey-peach blush (sheertone) to accompany the late 1950’s/ early 1960’s makeup look that I am going to sport at my school’s prom (which I’ve planned, by the by).

Luckily, the MAC counter had some sample pots (a rarity at my local MAC counter) and I was able to get a sample of Studio Fix liquid.  Oddly enough, I was color matched as an NW-22 in that when I am an NW-22 in the Studio Fix powder.  Oddly, both suit me.

Let me know if you’ve ever had a weird MAC color match experience that somehow worked out, too!-- I want to make sure I am not the only one with an odd face!

Adieu!
