40 Questions--Beauty Edition

Given my propensity to write on more weighty subjects, I thought it only appropriate to devote the evening before my return to the classroom to something whimsical-- a tag post from the lovely Amy of All Things Girly and Beautiful, on my beauty routine.

When you're an ardent feminist, like myself, people have the impression that you don't like make-up or generally want to look manly in appearance, which couldn't be father from the truth!  Like many gals, feminist or those who don't know they are feminists, I loves me some beauty treatments.  Here are 40 comments on my routine:

Skincare

1. How many times do you wash your face daily?
I wash my face twice a day: once when I get up in the morning and once in the bath at night.  Before I wash my face in the evening, I remove my makeup with a bathroom wipe-- they are more gentle than make-up removing wipes or baby wipes.

2. What skin type do you have?  (Dry, combo, oily)
I have oily combination skin that is really temperamental.

3. What is your current facial wash?

I use two different washes: Neutrogena's Acne Stress Control Foaming Gel Wash and La Roche-Posay's Effaclar cleanser.  I use Neutrogena when I am feeling more oily and LRP when my skin is calm.

4. Do you exfoliate?

Twice a week, every week!

5. What brand do you use?

I use a more intense exfoliate from MD Formations and a lighter Kiwi one from Mario Badescu.

6. What moisturiser do you use?

I use Mario Badescu's Aloe Moisterizer with SPF 15 and have used the Neurogena Combination Skin Moisterizer in the past.

7. Do you have freckles?

Of course, I have them all over in a charming little dusting.

8. Do you use eye cream?

I use Mario Badescu's ceremeade eye gel.

9. Do you have acne prone skin?

Yes, I have acne prone skin; I tend to also get cystic acne at times, too. :-/

10. Did you ever have to use Pro-activ?

I use the refining mask as a spot treatment; the line is too harsh for my temperamental skin.

Make-Up

11. What foundation to you use?

I use MAC Studio Fix in NC25.

12. How about concealer?

I don't use one for blemishes; my foundation manages to cover up most of my imperfections.  I do use the Maybeline Age Rewind concealer under my eyes.

13. Do you know your undertone colour?

Yellow-- I have a cool skin tone.

14. What do you think of fake eyelashes?

They look good one some people, but are not my bag . . .I already have long lashes, if they got any longer, you could hear me blink.

15. Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every three months?

I did; but I like to live on the edge.

16. What brand of mascara do you use?

I use Cover Girl Lash Blash and I use the Cover Girl mascara for Hazel eyes as well . . . when I want to be fancy.

17. Sephora or MAC?

MAC

18. Do you have a MAC pro-card?

Nope.  If I did, it would be a sign that I use too much makeup, I imagine.

19. What make up tools do you use in a make up application?

I use good quality brushes that I wash semi-regularly.

20. Do you use make up base / primer for the eyes?

I use Urban Decay Primer Potion when I, infrequently, wear eye shadow.

21.  Do you use make up base / primer for the face?

Never, never, never!  I have oily combination skin which will react if I wear too much makeup-- base would fall me into the too much category.

22. What is your favourite eye shadow?  (Colour or shade)

I don't wear much, but when I do I it's a flesh-toned eyeshadow by Pixie.  Since I work in education, I can't get too daring, even in my off days . . . I am meant to be a pillar of the community,  or something.

23. Do you use pencil or liquid liner?

I use pencil to fill in my brows and on my waterline but liquid on my top lid; again, I don't wear heavier eye make-up every day.

24. How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?

At least a couple times a year . . .

25. What do you think of pigment eye shadows?

I've never worn them, but I am sure they work for some people; I prefer to to keep it natural and keep it subtle.

26. Do you use mineral make up?

I have in the past and they were too heavy and messy for me.

27. What is your favourite lipstick?

I don't really wear lipstick alot.  If I do, I wear a mauve shade of LOreal Balm

28. What is your favourite lip gloss?

I don't wear gloss, I tend to wear a light lipstick or I wear regular lip balm.

29. What is your favourite blush to use?

I wear Mocha by MAC and a MAC medium shade bronzer.

30. Do you buy your make up on eBay?

Gross, no!

31. Do you like drugstore make up?

Yes, for mascaras, lip balms, etc.

32. Do you go to CCOs?

Huh?

33. Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?

I would, but I haven't to date.

34. Are you clumsy in putting on make up?

No, I keep it simple and get complimented on how well I look.

35. Do you like colourful shades of make up or neutral ones?

Neutral, I'm not a drag queen!  ;-)

36. Which celebrity always has great make up?

The Duchess of Cambridge and the Countess of Wessex.

37. If you could leave the house using just one make up item what would it be?

Colorscience mineral sunblock in SPF 30-- skin cancer is a real threat folks!

38. Could you ever leave the house without any make up on?

Of course!  I feel confidant in my look, with our without make up on. :-)

39. Do you think you look good without make up on?

Yes, I put a lot of effort in helping my skin look good and, sans a few hiccups here or there, it looks pretty good!

40. What do you think of make up?

I enjoy playing dress up with make up.  It doesn't define who I am or my look, but I use it to enhance the physical qualities I have that are nice.  It's not a crutch, just something I use to enhance what assets I have. :-)
